A look at my iTunes in 2008.
An infographics project.

I used the stats from iTunes, iTunes statician and Last.fm to collect data and visualize my itunes played over the course of 2008.

The last image is a data visualization that shows the top ten artists and albums played through my iTunes in 2008. Similar to that of a vinyl record or compact disc the rings represent a track on an album. Each album has a set of rings that are the track numbers. The inner-most ring will always be track number one and the track that is the furthest from the center will always be the last track. The stroke weight states exactly how many plays have been recorded on that track for that specific album. The stroke weight is based on a point scale with 10 point being the greatest at one-hundred plays and 0.1 weight being the lowest at one play. The stroke weight determines the amount of plays. The heavier the line point the more plays the track has. The colors coordinate with the data and each artist and album has a unique color to represent the data rings. Each set of data rings are numbered, that number is the rank for the album as well as the number of plays in 2008. The overall data collection of this poster states that there are 10 albums, 113 tracks and 5,442 plays from the top ten artists played over 2008.

2010 Presque Isle Music Festival
Marquette, Michigan

An identity development project:
My goal was to highlight an old or abandoned building/site in Marquette, Michigan. After spending several days exploring, I chose to create an identity based on a physical landmark in Marquette, Michigan called Presque Isle. I had decided to investigate, document physical features, and search for visual clues on Presque Isle. Using this specific location as content allowed me to create a "visual identity" for this space. The area had much to offer. I discovered several visual clues after spending time hiking and researching the isle. At the local library I found the history of Presque Isle and a topographical map. I ended up developing not just a logo, but a visual language through investigation and extracting visuals from the place itself. The topographic map played a large part in the logo.

The Crane Wife

This is a hard cover book with a perfect bind. Throughout the story nothing really appears as it is, greed overpowers the relationship and beauty is questioned. I smeared red acrylic paint with coffee filters to create an appropriate texture. Helvetica, a default typeface, depicts the characters mundane lifestyle before he met his wife.

Bombast: A zine to promote the physicality of print, to interrupt and intervene, most importantly bombast has shared authorship; the creative conscious of our campus.

Bombast was just one project of many other experiments I collaborated on with a small group of designers: Mark Andrew Wills, Geof Crowl, and Andrew Volpe. We called the project a stale relationship.

An identity for a conceptual small restaurant, entitled Blue Sky Bar and Lounge. The development of this restaurant started by looking into the demographics of Marquette, Michigan. This restaurant is downtown on Lake Superior on Lakeshore Boulevard and targets the middle class citizen. Blue Sky Bar and Lounge is competing with L’attitudes and The Upfront. The logotype feels elegant and clean, but also sophisticated due to the sizeable amount of tracking and the use of eurostile, a modern sans serif typeface. The horizontal line running through the letterforms represents the horizon. The color scheme of the logo, which is continuous throughout the set, emphasizes the modern feel of the restaurant and the perceived colors of the sky which is often associated with optimism. The word blue is in a grayscale tone and the word sky is a low saturation, mid brightness blue to represent the sky. The hue choice of the word sky represents the eco-friendly manner in which the restaurant is supervised.
